Electro-Ionization Lasers,

Abstract

This is a study of the electro-ionization method of exciting the working media of gas lasers. The conductance of a dense gas medium is created by ionizing radiation from an external source which, by passing an electrical current through the gas, permits the transformation of its energy into energy for exciting the working levels of the molecules. It discusses the mechanism of introducing energy into the active medium of an electro-ionization gas laser and the excitation of the laser working levels. It presents the experimental results of studies on an electro-ionization CO2 laser operating at CO2:N2He mixture pressures of up to 50 atm.
