On the Role of Numbers and Information in Competition,

Abstract

In the verbal descriptions of price in a competitive market the role of many competitors in bringing about the existence of a competitive price system is critical. Yet in the purported mathematization of these descriptions the role of the presence of many competitors disappears. The author discusses the importance of the role of numbers in a market.
