Blast Field Study for Proposed RIA (Rock Island Arsenal) Firing Tunnel.

Abstract

The report covers a blast field study conducted in conjunction with a firing tunnel feasibility investigation. The effort was authorized under a MCA project for expanding the firing facilities at Rock Island Arsenal. Muzzle blast data was collected from 105MM howitzer firings and the near blast field characteristics for larger artillery weapons were predicted by applying scaling techniques. This blast data will be used to determine the structural requirements of a tunnel for test firing various calibar artillery weapons at 0 degrees quadrant elevation. (Author)
