Analytical Photogrammetric Position System (APPS),

Abstract

The potential of applying photogrammetric techniques to provide position data for the Field Army has been demonstrated using a stereoplotter and digitizing equipment. A requirement has now been identified for a photogrammetric system to position both weapons and targets. To meet this requirement, the application of analytical photogrammetric techniques has been necessary. The report describes the principles of the Analytical Photogrammetric Positioning System (APPS) which incorporates equipment both for the mensuration of photography and the computer processing of data. Fundamental to the operation of the APPS is the provision of a 'Data Base' which includes both the imagery and data from a photogrammetric triangulation of photography covering the area of interested.
