Experimental Study of Man/Machine Interaction in Adaptive Computer Aided Control.

Abstract

The report presents the background and results of an experimental study focusing on human factors aspects of adpative computer aiding. Included are (1) a rationale for shared decision and control, (2) a description of the adaptive aiding computer program and task simulation developed for the experimental study, (3) the experimental design, procedure, and measurement techniques along with a discussion of the results, and (4) the development and testing of a program providing on-line estimation of operator utilities for his own and machine control.
