Nondestructive Test of Filter-Coalescer Elements.

Abstract

The concept of using a tracer gas to detect structural defects in filter-coalescer elements has been successfully demonstrated, a prototype nondestructive tester (NDT) has been built, and 30,000 elements have been tested. Data from quality conformance tests of elements produced during the past two years have been statistically analyzed and indicate between 4 and 7% of the elements accepted are defective. Use of the NDT will reduce this TO BETWEEN 0.9 AND 1.5%. (Author)
