Comparative Thermal Evaluation of the Standard USAF Overcoat, USAF Field Jacket, and Experimental USAF Utility Jacket,
Abstract
The standard USAF overcoat, USAF field jacket, and experimental USAF utility jacket were evaluated and compared on the basis of their thermal insulation. This was measured by use of a thermal (copper) manikin. Results are expressed in thermal insulation units (clo). The clothing items were assigned a comparative rank on the basis of their mean measured thermal insulation and weight/insulation ratio. Results are summarized and presented in tabular form. (Author)
