Mathematical and Statistical Analysis for the Reduction of Ionospheric Data and Other Physical Systems.

Abstract

The authors describe the techniques and computer programs developed to analyze various problems. Most of the work involved analysis and modeling ionospheric data collected at various places around the globe. This involved correlation studies, regression analysis, fitting non-linear time series and contour plotting. Computer programs for modeling the polar ionosphere and for updating models of ionospheric parameters with hourly measurements are developed. In addition, the authors prepared some efficient ray tracing programs using accurate electron density and magnetic field models, reduced and analyzed satellite measurements of electron densities in the ionosphere, and prepared theoretical and numerical solutions of electron transport characteristics in an irradiated solid.
