Interference Susceptibilities of Aerospace Model MH 1973 VLF Receivers.

Abstract

The document reports on the results of tests conducted to establish quantitative electromagnetic cleanliness specifications for spacecraft carrying Aerospace Corporation Model MH 1973 broadband VLF radio receivers. It is essential that electromagnetic interference generated by the spacecraft and its payloads be reduced to levels comparable to the sensitivity of the receiver. Interference may be caused by conducted emissions on the power line or by radiated emissions encountered at the antennas. Harmonics and intermodulation products caused by strong signals outside the receiver bandwidth must be considered. The specifications derived from the tests are summarized and graphically shown. These specifications include no safety margin. (Modified author abstract)
