Analysis of Vibration-Rotation Spectra of Methane.

Abstract

The report describes the data on methane provided for the compilation of spectroscopic parameters for several infrared-active molecules occurring naturally in the terrestrial atmosphere. Vibration-rotation bands of (12C)H4 and (13C)H4 in the 1 to 8.5 micrometer region were considered. Details, including conventions in notation, are given for the following parameters compiled for each spectral line: spectral position, absolute intensity, half-width, energy of the initial state of the transition, initial- and final-state rotational and vibrational quantum numbers, and isotopic species. References are provided to indicate the sources of experimental measurements and theoretical calculations. (Modified author abstract)
