Rapid Response Enthalpy Probe Development.

Abstract

A study is reported in which further development and test of rapid-response total calorimetric probes are performed. Stagnation enthalpy is obtained in a very few milliseconds by performing a heat balance on an ingested gas sample. The basic objective of the study was to perform research leading to the development of rapid-response probes which can measure the total enthalpy distribution of air flows under conditions of high temperature and pressure. Results of both low and high temperature tests of the diluent probe are given and possible future modifications are described. (Modified author abstract)
