The Magnetic Torquing System Used on the Ariel 4 Spacecraft.

Abstract

A simple magnetic torquing system was used on the Ariel 4 spacecraft to control the pointing direction of the spin axis in space. A brief description of the on-board hardware and the post-launch operating system is given together with comments on the in-orbit performance. The proposed use of a similar system on the UK6 spacecraft is discussed.
