Classification of Soils According to Physicomechanical Characteristics,

Abstract

Soil classification according to physicomechanical characteristics is described. In addition to physicomechanical properties of a soil group, specific cutting resistance depends upon width and depth of cut, area of cutting tool edges, dullness of cutting edges, cutting angle, angle at which cutting tool is sharpened, number and spacing of cutting tools, etc. Therefore, specific cutting resistance cannot be soil constant.
