Performance Characteristics and Basic Design Features of a Breathing Machine for Use to Depths of up to 3000 Feet of Sea Water.

Abstract

Breathing machines have been a central part of the equipment used to evaluate respiratory protective devices and underwater breathing apparatus for several years. The leading breathing machines in use today are surveyed. A set of specifications are proposed for the development of a breathing machine for use in the testing of underwater breathing apparatus to depths of 3000 feet of sea water. Based on the breathing machines surveyed, a basic design for the 3000 feet of sea water breathing machine is proposed. (Author)
