Proposed New Coordinate System for Dabob Bay 3-D Tracking Range.

Abstract

The generalized Lambert map projection is discussed. The Washington State-North coordinate system is used as an example. Topics such as convergence and scale factors are covered. A new coordinate system for the underwater tracking range in Dabob Bay is recommended. Equations needed to convert from geodetic coordinates to Lambert coordinates and back, and a transverse Mercator map projection specialized for Dabob Bay that would be appropriate for future consideration are given.
