Ionospheric Antenna Study.

Abstract

The report summarizes work concerning the generation of VLF and ULF signals on board satellites moving through the Earth's ionosphere. For signal generation by an electric dipole antenna theoretical and numerical work is described which aims at determining the near fields and effective antenna impedance without resorting to a priori assumptions about the antenna currents or the structure of a sheath and wake region. The radiation of power by pulse injection of charged particles into the ambient ionosphere is analyzed. (Modified author abstract)
