Compiler Design for the ILLIAC-4.

Abstract

The major thrust of the effort is the analysis, design, and implementation of software which will make the ILLIAC-4 easily usable by the scientific programming community. Many of the proposed ILLIAC-4 applications exist in large part as FORTRAN codes which are undergoing extensive design, development, and evaluation on a variety of machines. Questions arise such as the following: How will they perform on the ILLIAC. Can automatic programming aids be developed to allow the use to existing FORTRAN as the basis for an ILLIAC implementation. These issues are fundamental to the project.
