Facsimile Usage by Engineers: Test and Evaluation.

Abstract

Under the sponsorship of the Engineering Data Storage and Retrieval (EDS and R) Project, facsimile equipment was installed and tested at the working level in several groups of users related to the engineering functions within the Army Materiel Command. The records and evaluations made during this test are summarized. Alsoo included is information gained from networks not formally part of the test. A facsimile interface unit, developed under the EDS and R Project, that stores and forwards a facsimile signal between normally incompatible units, is described, although it was not used in the test and evaluation of the user networks. The facsimile equipment used included Graphic Science, Alden and Xerox units. Brief descriptions of these units are given. (Modified author abstract)
