Storage Camera Tube with Non-Destructive Readout.

Abstract

The report describes the progress to develop a novel camera-tube capable of dual-mode operation, either as a real-time television camera-tube or as a storage camera-tube with non-destructive readout, switchable upon command. Mode-switching was accomplished successfully on the first complete device, and measurements of sensitivity at 1.06 micrometer wavelength on the second complete device essentially confirmed the original prediction. Separate electron-gun tests continued and have led to a tentative gun design which is expected to be consistent with program goals for resolution and storage-time with reduced raster-size while zooming. Photomasks were designed and ordered to provide for higher diode-array density and, hence, higher target-resolution. (Author)
