Research Study and Analysis for Improvement of Shaped Charge Code.
Abstract
The BRL Shaped Charge code has been modified to allow the solution of the liner collapse and jet formation process associated with shaped charges containing bimetallic liners and wave shapers. Major improvements to the code include improved generators and detonation subroutines, slip stream capabilities and grid packaging. The latter improvement allows a finely zoned grid in the jet formation region to communicate with a surrounding coarsely zoned grid, thus saving calculational time without forfeiting resolution in the jet formation region. The improved code was used to solve three shaped charge configurations of interest to the BRL. (Author)
