Evaluation of MIL-L-23699 Lubricating Oil Performance in the J79 Engine

Abstract

An evaluation was made of the service performance characteristics of MIL-L-23699B oils in the J79 engine. Operational experience and problems, lubricant condition, and the condition of lubricant wetted engine components at overhaul are discussed. Recommendations are made concerning the expected life of MIL-L-23699 oils in this engine.
