Primary Responses of the Auditory Cortex of Anesthetized Cats to Sounds of Different Intensity (Pervichnye Otivety Slukhovoi KORY Narkotizirovannykh Koshek na Zvuki Raznoi Intensivnosti),

Abstract

The following conclusions were drawn from data: Distribution of primary responses (PR) potential along the vertical auditory cortex of anaesthetized cats does not depend on sound intensity or on the polarity of a potential drawn off monopolarly from the surface of the cortex; regular changes in PR (in the latent period and value of phases), depending on sound intensity, is observed only within a narrow range of intensities; the first and second phases of the primary reponse are, evidently, determined by different processes in the mass of the cortex.
