Extension of the Douglas-Neumann Program for Axisymmetric Bodies to Include Calculations of Potential, Non-Uniform Cross Flow, Added Mass and Conductor Problems,

Abstract

The report describes certain extensions to some methods described in the references for computing potential flow about bodies of revolution. For the fluid dynamics problem the principal extensions were: (1) adding the capability of computing the perturbation part of the velocity potential for both axisymmetric flow and cross flow at any point either on or off the body surface; and (2) adding the capability of computing the flow about a body immersed in an onset flow that is not a uniform stream for both axisymmetric flow and cross flow.
