Hardware Command and Control System Study.

Abstract

The report specifies a controlling entity termed the Hardware Command and Control Manager (HCCM) which integrates and controls the activities of distributed processes. The processes controlled by the HCCM may vary in level of complexity from a special purpose hardware function, through the process realized as mini-computers, to large scale processing systems requiring large central processors. The control functions provided by the HCCM are executive or operating system functions found in traditional software systems. The software functions in this class which are appropriate are optimized through implementation in hardware and form the HCCM. These functions are delineated in detail in this report along with the hardware blocks necessary to perform these operations. (Author)
