Ceiling-Visibility Climatological Study and Systems Enhancement Factors (Based on Hourly Observations).

Abstract

The climatological data presented herein are intended to assist the Federal Aviation Administration in making Instrument Landing Systems (ILS) investment decisions. A special study prepared by the Aviation Policy Division of the FAA describes the decision model used in the benefit/cost program to support requests for ILS facilities. The tables contained in this report are designed to present the seasonal and diurnal variability of the various ceiling-visibility conditions and system enhancement factors. Each table contains an explanation of the data presented as well as the number of hourly observations examined to develop the percentages.
