On Determination of the Region of Surface Elastic Wave Formation,

Abstract

It is evident that a detonation, in particular in compressible soils, casuses the formation both of straight, longitudinal (circumferential) and surface waves of various types (this article is concerned with surface waves of a topographical type). The experimental part investigated was performed at the experimental detonation base of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR in loamy soils with a volumetric charge of 1.9 g/sq cm and with natural moisture of 22-25% using a seismic apparatus (the detectors VBP-III, VIB-A, VEGIK, and the N-700 oscillographs).
