Survey of Two-Body and Three-Body Reaction-Rate Coefficients for the Ionized Stratosphere and Mesosphere

Abstract

Rate coefficients for two-body and three-body reactions applicable to the ionized stratosphere and mesosphere have been surveyed. The reactions are divided into five classes, viz., (1) positive-ion reactions, (2) electron reactions, (3) negative-ion reactions, (4) ion-ion reactions, and (5) neutral reactions. Reactions and their measured rate coefficients are given in tables and the values selected for inclusion in the AIRCHEM atmospheric deionization computer code are identified. The current status of knowledge regarding these reactions is summarized.
