Advanced Development Model (Feasibility Type) Tactical Page Reader.
Abstract
The final report on the Tactical Page Reader covers work done during the entire course of the project. The report describes construction and adjustment of the final version. The second elliptical-cylindrical reflector for the main illumination was built according to the dictates of experimental results with the first design. The details of design and adjustment are discussed herein. Edge detectors (three) are used to detect the passage of the page top and bottom edges. The Paper Handling subassemblies and their operation are discussed. Error correction procedures and related hardware are described. The keyboard and Operator Control Panel are covered completely. The function of each item is described. The logical block diagram of the reader is described with all logical functions detailed. The descriptions are given of the locations and functions of the various electronic parts. Printed circuit boards are all described as well as details of the power supplies. Also contained in this report is a section on recommendations for future developments, improvements, and design modifications. In the final section a list of pertinent machine characteristics is included for ready reference. (Author)
