Multiphoton Transitions in Helium between 1S and 2S Levels.

Abstract

An extension of the momentum-translation approximation to include many-electron systems is presented. The multiphoton 1S-2S transition amplitude for a helium atom in the presence of combined intense and weak electromagnetic fields is calculated. Nonperturbative behavior of the results is exhibited at high intensities. (Author)
