Some Aids for Estimating Damage Probabilities in Attacks Against Targets with P and Q Vulnerability Numbers: Supplementary Tables for Point Targets

Abstract

This is a supplementary volume to Rand report R-1168-PR, which presents tables of damage probability as a function of nuclear bomb yield and delivery CEP for 50 selected P vulnerability numbers (PVNs) associated with hardened military targets. The supplement was prepared in response to requests by Air Force officers and agencies for additional damage probability tables estimating outcomes of attacks on certain overpressure-sensitive P-type and dynamic-pressure-sensitive Q-type point targets not listed in R-1168-PR. The additional Probability of Damage (PD) tables presented cover 56 PVNs and 52 QVNs of current military interest. The tables should be useful to Air Force planners and analysts in providing a quick-access source for data not otherwise readily available.
