Objective Techniques for Forecasting Thunderstorms and Severe Weather.

Abstract

The report describes research and developmental efforts and achievements made by the Techniques Development Laboratory to generate and disseminate improved objective, computerized forecasts of thunderstorms and severe weather to serve aviation interests. The effort is focused on two main categories of forecasts: Medium range forecasts (6-24 hrs) intended primarily for planning purposes, and short range forecasts (0-6 hrs) necessary for operational decision making.
