Novel Magnetic Materials for Signal Processing.

Abstract

Interactions of magnetic domain walls with surface acoustic waves and with sheet currents in adjacent magnetoresistive layers have been investigated. Theoretical analysis was performed to study these interactions, and general theory was developed for the forces which can act at each point on a static or moving domain wall. Experimental attempts to detect the acoustic interaction were not successful. Experiments on the magnetoresistive interaction are more promising but not yet conclusive. In the course of the study bistable bubble domains were discovered and characterized. (Author)
