Design and Synthesis of a Vector-Graphics System.

Abstract

Cathode-Ray Tube Vector Graphic Systems offer the user rapid interaction with either static or dynamic images. This report divides vector generators into two class-digital and analog--and gives multiple examples within each class. Comparisons are made and conclusions are drawn concerning the relative merits of each generation method. A complete vector graphic display system is developed based upon the Binary Rate Multiplier method of vector generation. Three system descriptions are offered. They are, hardware, software and state-transition oriented. Each subassembly within the system is completely specified. The techniques used are evaluated via a breadboard model. Actual photographs illustrated important display capabilities. (Author)
