Transtage ACS (Attitude Control System) Valve Storage Tests.

Abstract

The Attitude Control Systems (ACS) for the Transtage vehicle were procured in quantities sufficient to satisfy the usage rate for a number of years. The components for the system were stored 'on the shelf' until needed. The Air Force Space and Missile Systems Organization (SAMSO) requested that the Air Force Rocket Propulsion Laboratory (AFRPL) concurrently store a number of similar valves for a period of five years, with annual performance tests which could be used to determine the effects of shelf storage and to provide confidence in the performance of the valves. The objective of the test program was to provide SAMSO with test data on the effects of shelf storage on the Transtage ACS Valve performance.
