Abstract

The report is a compilation of papers presented at the First Naval Ordnance Laboratory Conference on the Environmental Effects of Explosives and Explosions. The topics covered included the manufacture of explosives and weapons; the testing and use of explosives in the air, ground, and water; and the disposal of scraps, wastewater, and large items of obsolete ordnance. Physical, chemical, and biological effects of both nuclear and conventional explosions were treated.
