Mismatch Loss for a CW Phase Variable Signal.

Abstract

Assume a narrowband cw signal has a phase which is not coherent over the total time of observation. Also the coherence time is unknown but fixed. The amplitude and center frequency of the signal are also unknown but fixed over the time of observation. A detection algorithm is considered in which the sum of the filter outputs from a fixed bank of filters is compared to a threshold for detection purposes. The filters in the bank each have the same bandwidth and are separated by this bandwidth. In the document the detection performance is obtainef for this detector. The results are compared to the detection performance which would be obtained by an optimum detector where the amplitude, center-frequency and coherence time are assumed known. (Author)
