Final Research Studies of a 100-Case Sample of Neurotic Patients, A 28-Case Sample of Psychotic Patients, and a 60-Case Sample of Drug Abusers Using the Navy Medical Information Storage and Retrieval System (Navy Medistars).

Abstract

An anonymous clinical data base of 100 case history reports for neurotic patients and 28 case history reports for psychotic patients was augmented by the addition of 60 anonymous narrative summaries for drug abusers treated at the Miramar Naval Drug Rehabilitation Center. The descriptor terms used to index the information contained in the narrative reports for these three clinical samples constitute a comprehensive reduced representation of the substantive content of these three data bases. Therefore, computer searches using the NAVY MEDical Information Storage and Retrieval System (NAVY MEDISTARS) were conducted on these clinical samples for all of the more than 500 descriptor terms and subject/object/responder (SOR) terms in the NAVY MEDISTARS indexing dictionary in order to accomplish a series of research studies.
