Fracture Toughness Determination Utilizing the Notched Hollow Round Test Specimen,

Abstract

Experimental evidence concerning the determination of (K sub IC) is presented. Tests encompass three types of aluminum and two steels. It is concluded that valid (K sub IC) data is attained from notched hollow round specimens in tension as long as the ratio of notch stress to yield stress = or < 1.1. (Modified author abstract)
