Hybrid Computer Technology in Europe. A State of the Art Survey.

Abstract

A survey of the state-of-the-art of hybrid (analog-digital) computer technology in Europe was made with the specific objective of identifying and evaluating projects, either in progress or completed, that were advancing the hardware, software, or application technologies. Over 50 people were interviewed by telephone and several installations were visited. Projects of significant importance were found covering the subjects of automatic patching, all-digital systems (e.g., digital differential analyzer), compilers supporting the full hybrid system, interactive hybrid computing, applicability of hybrid solutions and their cost effectiveness, and advanced applications.
