Rigid Wing Aercab Design.

Abstract

A program was conducted to establish a preliminary design for an operational rigid wing AERCAB configuration and to provide an evaluation of that concept with respect to its operational feasibility, performance characteristics, system integration, and reliability. Preliminary design was completed to the lowest practical level consistent with the objective of the program. All mechanical systems design was completed, and modification to off-the-shelf-hardware proposed. Certain avionics equipment utilized in the fly-by-wire control system requiring adaptation of state-of-the-art technology were defined schematically. The proposed configuration is totally compatible and retrofitable without major modification to the crewstation of the F-4 aircraft. (Modified author abstract)
