A Note on the Local Behavior of the Derivative of a Cubic Spline Interpolator.

Abstract

The derivative of a cubic spline interpolator is sometimes used to smooth a histogram. An asymptotically precise estimate of the difference between the derivative of the cubic spline interpolator and the derivative of the function interpolator is obtained under the assumption of equal interval size, appropriate boundary data and sufficient smoothness.
