Evaluation by a Modified Cylinder Test of Metal Acceleration by Non-Ideal Explosives Containing Ammonium Nitrate

Abstract

Cylinder tests have been designed and conducted to study the effect of substitution of ammonium nitrate (AN) for RDX in a limited range of particle sizes and sources, to arrive at an appropriate design of cylinder tests for non- ideal explosives and to provide a basis for studying the basic mechanisms of these non-ideal explosives.
