The Production and Evaluation of Dichromated Holographic Lenses.

Abstract

An experimental study was made to determine the optimum procedure for making dichromated reflection holographic lenses from chemically cleared Kodak 649F spectroscopic plates. The absorption spectral curve showed a sensitivity range from 3500 A to about 5500 A with the peak below 4000A. A 15-watt red safe light was used when sensitizing film with no fogging effects. Exposure curves showed a near linear relationship with the square-root of diffraction efficiency over a range from 20 to 40 mJ/sq cm. Ronchi rulings on glass slides and on photographic transparencies were used to measure square wave response.
