Microwave Hertzian Generator Investigation

Abstract

A program was conducted to investigate the feasibility of a microwave version of the frozen wave generator. An approach using ultraviolet triggered spark gap switches is reported which successfully demonstrates the operating principles of the generator at frequencies below one GHz. The investigation includes a study of UV triggering phenomena in overvolted spark gaps.
