Ocean Swell Wave Groups from Wave Record Analysis.
Abstract
An investigation of the characteristics of wave groups occurring in five ocean swell trains was undertaken. To accomplish this, a definition of wave groups and their properties was developed. It was found that the average wave group period and the average maximum height in a group were essentially equal to the spectral period of maximum energy density and the significant height of a swell train, respectively.
