A Physical Mechanism for the Production of Spot Related Solar Prominences.

Abstract

It is shown in this report that a charge separation electric field (produced by the interaction of Evershed flow with the spot magnetic field) can drive electrical currents upward along magnetic lines that link the photosphere with the upper solar atmosphere. The form and dynamics of the typical two-ribbon flare and their relation to spot related prominences are also considered. (Modified author abstract)
