Evaluation of Two Diver's Wrist Depth Gauges,

Abstract

The report covers the evaluation of two Diver's Wrist Depth Gauges to determine the ability of the gauges to meet the accuracy and visibility specifications as outlined by the Bureau of Ships to depths of 200 feet. The gauges were tested by chamber depth runs to 200 feet with instruments for recording true depth. The gauges were tested with a subject in a completely darkened tank filled with eight feet of water to ascertain degree of visibility in darkness. The results are discussed. Both gauges meet accuracy standards and only one of the gauges meets the visibility requirements. (Modified author abstract)
