Transonic Dynamic Stability Tests of a Small Scale Model of the ABMA 'Jupiter' W14 Nose Cone Forebody in Combination with Three Afterbodies.

Abstract

Transonic longitudinal dynamic stability tests of three afterbody configurations of the Jupiter, W14 nose cone are reported. The tests were conducted in the 1-Ft Transonic Tunnel of the Arnold Engineering Development Center. The pitch damping parameter and the static stability parameter were obtained from free-oscillation tests at Mach numbers from 0.4 to 1.5. All three configurations of the model were found to be stable throughout the Mach number range. (Modified author abstract)
