Cartridge Case - Chamber Interaction during Firing

Abstract

A computer program has been written to determine the interference pressure between cartridge case and chamber and between cartridge case and bolt for the high pressure, thin-walled cartridge case task in the Automatic Cannon Technology Program. Membrane stresses for conical and spherical sections are used along with the Prandtl-Reuss equations to determine the deformation of the case and the interference pressures during firing.
