Development and Testing of a Safing and Arming (S and A) Module for the XM587E2/XM724 Electronic Time (ET) Fuze.
Abstract
The report describes technical accomplishments of a program to develop and test a safing and arming (S and A) module for the XM587E2/XM724 electronic time (ET) fuze. The feasibility of adapting the M572E2 fuze S and A module to the XM587E2/XM724 application had been demonstrated under Contract DAAG39-72-C-0039. The effort accomplished under this program included design modifications to improve reliability, explosive train development, spin arming delay tests, MIL-STD-331 rough handling tests, and ballistic tests.
